Hospital Flooring, Poole Hospital
BRIEF
The KC Carpets team were recently called in to complete a job at Poole Hospital. It was a multi-faceted job, with our engineers tasked with completing renovations to a bathroom, particular functional rooms and corridors, as well as to the front desk area. It was important to be as unintrusive and efficient as possible, in order to avoid disrupting hospital staff and their day-to-day operations.

OUR SOLUTIONS
We would like to thank Randell Construction, who we worked with on this project to great success.
BATHROOM
The KC Carpet team’s first task was to complete renovations to the bathroom, specifically the floor – which as an area that frequently gets wet, needs special consideration when it comes to the chosen material.
Our fitters selected Granite Safe T flooring from Tarkett, which is a durable flooring specially designed for catering to heavy traffic, wet areas where safety is of the highest concern. The flooring possesses plenty of high-tech features, such as slip-resistant R10 grip for bare feet, and a Safety Clean XP surface which is stain resistant and easily maintained.
BioClad wall cladding was also installed, forming the corners of the room and welding the joints to lock the flooring in securely – providing one, hygienic and easy clean surface.
CORRIDORS
In the hospital corridors, we again worked on the flooring. Our team chose another Forbo Eternal Wood product, but went for a slight colour variation in warm chestnut.
This colour is slightly deeper in nature and provides a ‘warmer’ feel than the tropical beech.
Hotel Flooring Installation, Bournemouth
BRIEF
We were contacted by Premier Inn to supply and fit a range of flooring solutions for their 105-bedroom hotel on Bournemouth’s West Cliff.
OUR SOLUTION
We were tasked with fitting attractive, durable flooring throughout the entire hotel, including its 105 bedrooms, the kitchen, public spaces, staircases and back of house areas. Because of the varied nature of these spaces, we advised on the best solution for each area in order to deliver a stylish and hard-wearing finish.
For the bedrooms and lounge areas, we fitted highly durable Cavalier carpets. Because hotels experience high levels of traffic, they need carpet that can withstand greater than average amounts of wear and tear. Cavalier carpets are made from polypropylene, which has an inherently high tensile strength. This means, where other carpets might start to look tired and drab, Cavalier carpets will stay looking great even in busy areas. They can also be cleaned by bleach and are stain resistant, making them an ideal choice that’s easy to maintain.
Throughout the rest of the hotel, we fitted Amtico signature vinyl tiles and Altro wood-effect vinyl safety flooring. Vinyl flooring is a great choice for hotels as it looks fantastic while offering enhanced durability. It’s also easy to maintain and keep clean, which makes it ideal for busy, high-traffic areas.
The kitchen areas were fitted with safety vinyl flooring, to provide slip resistance and reduce the risk of injury (especially important in areas with an increased risk of moisture and spillages).
RESULTS
Our multi-skilled team of flooring fitters was able to deliver a wide range of flooring types to a high standard and finish. We were on a tight schedule and completed work on time and on budget.
The client was extremely happy with the speed of our installation team and the exceptional quality of the work provided. We were delighted to be recognised and chosen by such a well-known company and our professional, experienced team went above and beyond to deliver the high standards we’ve built our reputation on.
School Flooring Project in Salisbury
THE CLIENT:
Morgan Sindall Group.
THE PROJECT:
St Michael’s CE Primary School in Salisbury, Hampshire.
THE BRIEF:
Morgan Sindall contacted our team of experts to help assist with their new school development project in Salisbury. Our client needed high-quality education flooring throughout the school’s staircases, classrooms, bathrooms, library, cafeteria, kitchen, and staff room.
OUR SOLUTION:
We used Heckmondwike supacord carpet tiles throughout the staircases, library, hallways, classrooms and staff rooms to have continuity in the school. This flooring solution is low maintenance, energy efficient and is a cost-effective choice for schools as if a tile gets accidentally damaged there’s no need for an entire flooring replacement.
Altro slip resistant vinyl flooring was used in bathrooms, kitchens, the cafeteria, and stairs as the flooring's materials have an R10 slip resistance value, which is essential for a safe educational establishment. The feature blue and green staircase and the standard staircase both have Quantum PVC stair nosings, which guarantees safety for all young students. The main staircase is now a striking feature within the building, its bright colours will catch the eyes of any student! The bold green edging not only is a fashion statement, but it's also designed so that young children can clearly see the edge of each step, which makes it safer for them to walk up and down the stairs with ease. The staircase has two different sections that include normal stairs and a seating area directly next to it, this will become a social focus point for many of the school's students.
The team also installed Whiterock Cladding on the school's kitchen walls to provide a hygienic and clean environment. Our Whiterock wall cladding is approved by the European Union (EU) for health and hygiene that guarantees cleanliness for all teachers and students. The Whiterock cladding can withstand up to 60 degrees, so our client doesn't have to worry about high temperatures affecting the product's warranty.
