9 Simple ways to transform your home this new year

12/13/19

This new year marks the end of one decade and the dawn of another. To help you make the most of this fresh start, we’ve put together a list of simple things you can do to transform your home to help make 2020 your best year yet.

1)    Rejuvenate a tired room with fresh paint

If you’ve ignored the dull and dirty walls of a room for too long, take the new year as your opportunity to give it a new lease of life with a fresh lick of paint. You’ll be amazed at the transformation.

2)    Change your duvet cover

As the main focus point in any bedroom, your bed has a big say in the overall feel of the room. So, if you fancy a quick change, swap your old sheets for brand new ones for an instant update.

3)    Update worn out flooring

Worn out flooring dates any room so treat yourself to brand new fluffy carpet or stylish wood this new year. Pop down to KC Carpet’s new flooring shop in Wimborne for some inspiration.

4)    Eliminate clutter

Are you struggling to find space for all your lovely new Christmas gifts? Are your drawers full of mysterious junk and cupboards full to bursting? Clearing out all the clutter you’ve accumulated over the year will free up space and create a relaxed atmosphere.

5)    Scatter scented candles

Speaking of relaxing atmospheres, placing candles around your home not only ensures each room smells lovely and fresh, but will help you feel calm and cosy, especially on cold winter nights.

6)    Blankets add texture and interest

Blankets and throws strategically draped on furniture is a great way to add instant interest and texture to your home. And they’re perfect for snuggling up with at the end of a chilly day.

7)    Change up a room’s layout

If you’re bored of walking into the same old room day in and day, rearranging the furniture can make it feel completely different.

8)    Create a feature wall

Creating a feature wall will transform your room quickly and cheapy. Try painting a wall a different colour, covering it in funky wallpaper or even hanging a gallery of your favourite snaps in eclectic frames.

9)    Go green!

House plants are a great way to add a pop of colour and shape to a room. Mix it up by placing larger plants around the edges of the floor and dotting smaller ones on side tables and mantels.
